Title-seeking Port return to their “real home” PAT Stadium tonight as hot favourites to defeat a depleted Suphanburi side and close the gap on Thai League 1 leaders BG Pathum United.

Port will also welcome back Tanaboon Ketsarat and Nelson Bonilla, who spent time on the sidelines, nursing injuries.

The match, which will kick off at 6.30pm, will be broadcast live on NBT 2HD channel.

Port, who have a game in hand, are currently in third place with 22 points, seven adrift of leaders Pathum United.

Suphanburi are in seventh spot with 17 points.

The Klong Toey-based club made a temporary move away from their home ground after two successive power outages at their venue, one of them costing them a 2-0 forfeit defeat in September.

Port head coach Sarawut Treephan is confident that the return to PAT Stadium would have a positive impact on his team.

“We could not play our past few home matches on our own turf but we are now back in our real home, which is really great for the team,” said the Port head coach.

“We want our fans to back the team as we are targeting a place in the AFC Champions League.

“Our results are getting better. We have worked very hard to achieve that which is the important thing for us.

“We only have five games left in the first leg but we will be taking things on a match by match basis.

“I mainly focus on homework and want the team to play according to the plan. If we keep ourselves disciplined in both offence and defence, everything will be fine against Suphanburi.”

Suphanburi assistant coach Sathaporn Wajakum said his men face a tough task at PAT Stadium this evening.

“We will be without four key players. Suphan Thongsong and Felipe Amorim were injured during the FA Cup two weeks ago while Prasit Jantum and Jirawat Thongsaengphrao are suspended,” said Sathaporn.

“A match at PAT Stadium is always a tough affair for any team. Port will surely be extra keen to win on their return to their home ground.

“We will have to work hard to keep them under check throughout the match. They are a strong team loaded with some top-class players.”
